Vertex is a leading provider of tax technology and compliance solutions. The Vertex tax provider integration for Dynamicweb 10 enables automated sales tax calculation and address validation for eCommerce orders by connecting Dynamicweb Commerce to the Vertex API.

Dynamicweb provides an add-in that allows you to connect to Vertex and calculate taxes on orders, provided that you have:

  1. An active Vertex account
  2. Valid US addresses on the orders being created

With the Vertex tax provider, you can do the following:

  • Calculate taxes during checkout and order processing
  • Validate and resolve addresses via Vertex
  • Support tax document creation for invoicing and quoting

Setup and configuration

To set up the Vertex tax provider, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Areas > Commerce > Product catalog > Taxes
  2. Click New tax setting
  3. Provide a Name and use the Country relations selector to select the United States
  4. Switch to the Provider tab and select Vertex tax provider
  5. Fill in the provider settings as described below
  6. Save

Provider settings

The following settings are available for the Vertex provider:

Setting Description
TrustedId The trusted ID for your Vertex account
Company Code The company code registered in Vertex
Origination Address The address from which goods are shipped (Street, City, State, Zip)
Get customer code from Select where to retrieve the customer code (AccessUserID, CustomerNumber, ExternalID)
Default customer class code Default value for customer class code if not set
Enable Commit If enabled, commits transactions in Vertex. If unchecked, transactions remain uncommitted for external processing
Don’t use in product catalog Disables rendering taxes from Vertex in the product catalog for performance
Don’t calculate taxes if Exemption number is set Disables taxes for users with a value in the ExemptionNumber field

Address validation

The Vertex provider can validate billing and shipping addresses using the Vertex address validation service. You can enable or disable validation for each address type in the provider settings.
