The Global settings node shows a collection of, well, global settings from the system file GlobalSettings.config file. This node is only available for administrator users.
The GlobalSettings file is a collection of system settings, many of which are set via the UI – e.g. compression settings, URL settings, password expiry settings, and so on – but also a number of settings for debugging, testing, or special case scenarios. It is generally not advisable to change a global setting unless you know exactly what you are doing or has been advised by someone who knows exactly what they are doing.
