Mandrill delivery provider

Configure Mandrill as an external delivery provider for email marketing

Use the Mandrill delivery provider when you want Dynamicweb to send email through your Mandrill (Mailchimp Transactional) account instead of the default Dynamicweb Send Provider.

Before you start, make sure you have the following:

  • A Mandrill account with valid SMTP credentials
  • Access to Settings > Areas > Marketing > Delivery Providers

Configure Mandrill delivery provider

To configure the Mandrill delivery provider, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Areas > Marketing > Delivery Providers
  2. Click Add and select Mandrill
  3. In User name, enter your Mandrill SMTP user name
  4. In Password, enter your Mandrill password/API key
  5. Select the Time zone used for provider event timestamps
  6. Set Time window in minutes to allow for timestamp differences between Dynamicweb and Mandrill
  7. Click Save
  8. Set the provider as default on a Campaign or on a specific email

Field reference

The following fields are available when configuring the Mandrill delivery provider:

  • User name: Required for Mandrill SMTP authentication
  • Password: Required for SMTP authentication, and used as the API key for Mandrill event lookup
  • Time zone: Time zone used when comparing event times
  • Time window: Allowed drift in minutes between Dynamicweb and Mandrill timestamps

Notes

Keep the following in mind when configuring or using the Mandrill delivery provider:

  • Time window cannot be 0 and defaults to 5 minutes when not set
  • If User name or Password is missing, delivery fails with a configuration error
  • SMTP delivery uses host smtp.mandrillapp.com on port 25
  • For debugging, use Dynamicweb Save Provider to save messages to a folder instead of sending
