Presets

Predefined content blocks for easier content creation

A preset (in this context) is a predefined content block, either page, a row, or a paragraph, which can be selected when creating content so that you don't have to start from scratch every time you want to create a particular type of page, row or paragraph.

When you create content on DW10, content presets can be selected below the standard pages, rows or paragraphs.

ContentPresets

Most grid-based solutions are delivered with a number of presets already saved, and if you're building a solution for a customer you should make sure to save some of your rows and columns as presets to help end-users out.

Managing presets

Row and column presets can be created by admins and administrator users using the Save as preset-option in the Visual editor or list view context menus, page presets are created using the Action-menu on the page.

create preset

When you save a preset, best practice is:

  1. Provide a Name and a description
  2. Add an image - This is the image that will appear in the content selector as the preset when you create new content
  3. Select a category or provide a new category name
  4. Click Create

Once created, presets are available where they are applied. For example, page presets can be found when adding a new page to your solution.

Note, that if a preset includes item types restricted from certain areas (e.g. the header), the preset won’t be available when working in those restricted areas.

The Presets can also be found in the Presets section in the content tree - or under Swift tools if using Swift. This list consists of three nodes:

  • Row templates
  • Paragraph templates
  • Page templates

Under each of these is listed the different categories created for presets(1) - click either of these categories to see a list of the presets in that category in the workspace(2). Use the context menu to edit each preset if you need to.
