DynamicWeb 10 releases

DynamicWeb 10 release waves overview

All areas of DynamicWeb is considered ready for implementation. There are still many improvements and features in development as always with DynamicWeb.

To help you stay up to date on our DynamicWeb 10 release planning, we have created an overview on this page.

Conceptually, we have divided our DW10 releases into four waves where we work on chunks of related features. While we will still be releasing DW10 continually, each wave aims to tackle specific areas.

DW 9 vs DW 10

Even though DynamicWeb 10 is very similar to DynamicWeb 9 and shares many of the same features, it also introduces a lot of changes. Some concepts are new, but share the same data and rendering as DynamicWeb 9. Some concepts are gone.

With DynamicWeb 10 we have also taken the opportunity to remove deprecated functionality and features that we consider outdated, as well as changed some concepts.. We have also updated a lot of technology to contemporary versions.

Because of this you have to be aware that you cannot expect the exact same feature set from DynamicWeb 9 to be available. Ensure that you have a look at a DynamicWeb 10 installation to make sure that a given feature is still available - you are also very welcome to comment and request information in the DynamicWeb 10 forums

Upgrade vs. New

When starting your implementations of DynamicWeb 10, we recommend that you take on new implementation rather than upgrade existing solutions.

  • Client is more likely to have little or no legacy knowledge on how and what works in DynamicWeb 9.
  • You get to know how to work with DynamicWeb 10 before running into situations where customization on a DynamicWeb 9 causes upgrade issues.

It is possible to upgrade DynamicWeb 9 solutions to DynamicWeb 10 - see Upgrading DynamicWeb 9 to DynamicWeb 10.

Documentation

Our new documentation site is divided into three areas; Developer documentation, Manuals and API documentation.

The documentation is a continuous work in progress - if you have suggestions for things that needs to be better documented, post a thread in DynamicWeb 10 forum

Find the DynamicWeb 10 documentation on https://doc.dynamicweb.dev

Developer documentation

For developers, implementers and technical advanced users and covers everything from installation, implementation, customization, hosting and more.

Read the developer documentation

Manual

In the manual part of the documentation, the concepts of how to use DynamicWeb 10 UI is described for end users as well for implementing partners to use.

Based on feedback from partners, the developer documentation is much more important to get started building and implementing with DynamicWeb 10 than user guide manuels.

So therefore work on the developer documentation is prioritized above the work on the manuals.

But do know that we have a team working on this content, the prioritization of the work follows the waves, but will not be done together with the waves.

Read the users manual

API

The documentation of the DynamicWeb 10 APIs can be found here:

DynamicWeb 10 comes with 2 web apis:

  • Delivery API for headless implementations
  • Management API for creating, reading and deleting data in the backend and to perform actions
